    FAQs

What types of materials are there for plastic valves?

When it comes to plastic valves, the material used plays a crucial role in determining its performance and durability. There are several types of materials that can be used to make plastic valves, each with their own unique characteristics and properties.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): This is the most commonly used material for plastic valves due to its low cost and good chemical resistance. It is also lightweight, making it easy to handle and install. However, it has limitations in terms of temperature range and pressure ratings.

CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride): This type of plastic valve material has improved thermal stability compared to PVC, allowing it to operate at higher temperatures and pressures. It also has excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for various industrial applications.

PP (Polypropylene): PP is known for its exceptional chemical resistance, making it ideal for handling corrosive fluids such as acids and alkalis. It also has good mechanical strength and can withstand high temperatures up to 240°F.

PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride): PVDF is a premium-grade plastic valve material with superior chemical resistance against aggressive chemicals such as hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid. Its excellent mechanical properties make it suitable for high-pressure applications.

5.Others: Other materials that can be used for plastic valves include HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene), ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), among others.

    UPVC butterfly valve industry application

The use of UPVC butterfly valves in various industries has been gaining traction due to its numerous advantages over traditional metal valves. UPVC, which stands for unplasticized polyvinyl chloride, is a type of plastic that offers exceptional durability and chemical resistance.

One of the most prominent applications of UPVC butterfly valves is in the water treatment industry. These valves are widely used in both municipal and industrial water treatment plants due to their ability to handle corrosive chemicals and withstand high pressures. The smooth interior surface of UPVC also prevents any build-up or scaling, making it an ideal choice for water distribution systems.

Another key application of UPVC butterfly valves is in the oil and gas industry. With the increasing demand for energy resources, there has been a rise in offshore drilling activities, where exposure to harsh seawater can quickly corrode traditional metal valves. This is where UPVC butterfly valves prove to be invaluable as they are highly resistant to corrosion from saltwater and other chemicals found in oil and gas operations.

Many chemical processing plants have also switched to using UPVC butterfly valves due to their excellent chemical resistance properties. These valves can handle a wide range of acids, alkalis, solvents, and other aggressive substances without deteriorating or causing any contamination issues.

Application of UPVC butterfly valve in water treatment industry

The use of UPVC butterfly valves in the water treatment industry has gained significant traction in recent years, and for good reason. These innovative valves offer a multitude of benefits that make them an ideal choice for various applications within the industry.

Firstly, let us understand what UPVC butterfly valves are. UPVC stands for Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride, which is a type of plastic that is highly durable and resistant to corrosion. Butterfly valves are quarter-turn valves that have a disc or plate as their closing mechanism, similar to how butterflies open and close their wings. When this disc rotates at a 90-degree angle, it allows for precise control over fluid flow.

Now, coming to the application of these valves in the water treatment industry – they can be used at different stages of the water treatment process with great efficiency. One such area is in controlling the flow rate during chemical dosing processes. The precise control offered by PVC butterfly valve ensures accurate dosage rates without any wastage or overdosing.

Additionally, these valves are also widely used in water filtration systems. With their excellent chemical resistance properties, they can withstand harsh chemicals often used in filtration processes without corroding or deteriorating over time. This makes them a cost-effective option as they require minimum maintenance and replacement costs.

Moreover, UPVC butterfly valves are lightweight yet durable which makes them easy to install and operate even in remote locations within water treatment plants. Their low torque operation also reduces energy consumption compared to other types of manual or actuated valves.
