What is a 3 way ball valve?
A 3-way ball valve is a type of plumbing and/or process control valve commonly used in industrial applications to regulate the flow of a liquid or gas, often to distribute it between two different points. It is basically similar to a regular ball valve except that it has three openings instead of just one.
When the lever of this type of valve is turned all the way to one direction, pressure from incoming fluid is directed downward into an outlet port, usually located at the bottom. In the middle position – halfway between fully open and closed – no flow occurs in either direction; instead, incoming fluid simply blocks-off both outlets as required. When it’s turned all the way in another direction, pressure from incoming fluid will be directed upward into an outlet port at the top.
What is the difference between a 2 way and 3 way ball valve?
When it comes to the differences between a 2 way and 3 way ball valve, the major difference lies in their functionality. A 2-way valve is designed to control the flow of fluid from one point of entry to another while a 3-way valve can direct fluid along two different paths either simultaneously or separately for more precise control.
A two-way ball valve has just one inlet and one outlet port connected with an internal ball that rotates 90 degrees around its axis (from open to closed). When opened, this type of valve permits full flow from the inlet port to the outlet port; when rotated 90 degrees in either direction it will stop all flow regardless of how much pressure is applied on either side. This makes a two-way fit very useful for regulating processes involving on/off functions such as controlling supply & return valves, draining systems or emptying equipment.
Three-way ball valve application
Using a three-way ball valve is one of the most efficient ways to control and regulate the flow of materials such as water, air, oil, and steam. Three-way ball valves are generally used in services that require directional control for precise regulation or shutoff. With these valves, it is possible to isolate fluid flows from specific areas within a system and also mix or divert fluids without disrupting other parts of the system.
Applications for three-way ball valves include: gas line shut off; controlling pressure in hot and cold water lines; diverting liquid lines in heating systems or large scale plumbing jobs; water supply systems where two different pressures are needed (such as chemical processing plants); controlling cooling water flow in industrial processes like refineries; zoning particular areas with separate temperature controls; providing isolation on chemical feed tanks over different periodic intervals; regulating air flow on compressed air systems; operating dosing pumps accurately on pharmaceutical production lines.
What is the function of pneumatic three-way ball valve？
A pneumatic three-way ball valve is an automated valve used to control the flow of gases and liquids, such as air, water, steam or a variety of other fluids. The three-way version has three ports, allowing it to provide directional control over those substances flowing through it via its operation with an actuator (like an electric motor).
This type of valve is used widely in industrial processes for controlling the flow rate of a process fluid throughout a line. It operates by passing the liquid through one port via its internal spherical “ball” much like other valves. However, this particular design incorporates two passageways which cut out at 90 degrees from one another; thus providing either open/closed access (on/off) or throttling in both directions and hence enabling bidirectional flow control using only one fixed opening size on the ball portion of the device . This allows for extremely accurate regulation of pressure and temperature within applications while still efficiently managing on/off operations whenever necessary.
